Eventbrite - OOHC Caseworker Development Session

A review of Australian and International research of OOHC outcomes indicates that care leavers have significantly low levels of involvement in higher education. While the reasons for this are complex and varied, a key finding in the research highlights the important role case workers have in encouraging and nurturing the connection to education.

After consultation with a sample of practitioners and providers, the session was developed to showcase the resources UON can share with the sector with a focus on the NSW OCG OOHC Standards:

  • 10- Education
  • 15- Leaving Care Planning.

Session aims include:

  • Assisting the development of solid care plans underpinned by OCG Standards;
  • An opportunity for OOHC practitioners to share their knowledge;
  • Increased awareness on how UON resources can be used by children and young people in OOHC to assist and further their education; and
  • Developing new relationships between the OOHC and UON.
