Norma Bermudez Workshop

This event was held on Tuesday 20 October 2015

The Political School of Pazifica Women

Is it possible to imagine politics and the political emerging from the body, pleasure, spirituality, creativity and the construction of communities of feeling? What traditions of thought and practices are necessary to construct the political and politics in this way?

Constructing the political in this way can we challenge or dialogue with hegemonic conceptualisations of the political? What would be the reach of our dialogues?

In Cali, Colombia there is an experience of popular education, feminism and nonviolence that is attempting to visibilise these different dimensions of the political and politicise the totality of life in all its dimensions. The School and one of its co-founders, Norma Bermudez are in Newcastle to dialogue about these experiences.

This seminar is hosted by Discipline of Politics and International Relations and the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Educatiom CoP Governance, Policy and Practice.
