About Peter Varghese AO

Peter Varghese AO is one of Australia's most distinguished diplomats and policy leaders. Across a 38-year career in public service, he served as Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, High Commissioner to India and Malaysia, Director-General of the Office of National Assessments, and Senior Advisor (International) to the Prime Minister.

He is currently Chair of the Australian Public Policy Institute and an Adjunct Professor at The University of Queensland. Peter is widely recognised for his expertise in foreign policy, international relations and Australia's engagement with Asia, including authoring the India Economic Strategy to 2035 commissioned by the Australian Government.

This event is open to anyone interested in international affairs, public policy and the future of the Asia-Pacific, from students and emerging leaders to experienced professionals and lifelong learners.
