A strong, stable and prosperous Pacific

This public lecture will be held on Thursday 20 November 2025 starting 6:00pm

Join us for a captivating evening with the Hon Pat Conroy MP where he will talk about his experiences working with the Pacific family for a strong, stable and prosperous future.

The Albanese government is using all levers of national power to respond to the most challenging strategic outlook Australia has faced in the past 50 years. But, in this case, what does it mean to be drawing on different aspects of our national power? What does this look like for Australia, and what does it look like for our neighbours across the region? Minister Conroy will discuss work underway to navigate the most difficult strategic circumstances Australia has faced since the Second World War. He will also discuss new transformational agreements with Tuvalu, Nauru and PNG, and work underway to build a more connected and integrated region.

Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and gain valuable insights. See you there!

The Hon Pat Conroy MP

The Hon Pat Conroy MP is Australia’s longest serving Minister for the Pacific, and the only to serve in Cabinet.

Across over 30 visits to 12 Pacific countries, Minister Conroy’s focus is on listening to the priorities of the Pacific family – and delivering them.

Since his appointment he has acted on climate change through the Pacific Resilience Facility and Pacific Climate Infrastructure Financing Program, and re-focussed Australia’s international development program on our region.

Furthermore, Minister Conroy has delivered groundbreaking new agreements with Tuvalu, Nauru and Papua New Guinea that uniquely respond to the priorities of each country.

Minister Conroy is working to build a more stable, secure and prosperous Pacific because he knows that Australia’s future is tied to that of our Pacific neighbours.

Minister Conroy grew up on the New South Wales Central Coast, completed an Economics degree with Honours at the University of Sydney, and worked in a range of industrial, policy and political roles prior to his election in 2013 as a Federal Member of Parliament. He was elevated into the Ministry after the 2022 Federal Election and into the Cabinet in 2024. Minister Conroy also serves as the Minister for Defence Industry.
