Sadly, we have decided to cancel the Purai Public Form on Voice Treaty Truth, given the COVID-19 situation and the cancellation of the Newcastle Writers’ Festival, and will reschedule for later this year or the next. We will keep you posted and look forward to being able to see you in the future.
Where do we go from here?
Purai Global Indigenous History Centre, Wollotuka Institute, and the School of Creative Industries will host a special FREE event on at the University of Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, Cnr Laman Street, Auckland St, Newcastle NSW 2300.
Please join us to hear from prominent young Indigenous thinkers Teela Reed, Ganur Maynard, and Thomas Mayor, discussing the themes of Voice, Treaty, and Truth, in a panel conversation moderated by Professor Larissa Berendt, UTS. Where are we now, at this moment? How will the momentum of the Uluru Statement be maintained in 2020 and beyond? What steps do we need to be taking now, for the country to move forward as one? How can the non-Indigenous communities play their part in truth-telling? What is the importance of understanding and knowing our histories in this process?
