Revolutionary Couch Potatoes: Refugee Experiences of Settling in Australia
The Revolutionary Couch Potatoes is a student-led series of events, brought to you by the Ma & Morley Scholars.
It's for anyone who wants to change the world (“Revolutionary”) and it's a chance to get together to watch a movie and share food, thought and discussion (“Couch Potatoes!”).
For the first Revolutionary Couch Potatoes we will be screening and discussing the themes presented in Constance on the Edge. Filmed over 10 years, Constance on the Edge is an unflinchingly honest portrayal of one refugee family’s resettlement story in Australia.
After the film there will be the chance to talk to University of Newcastle students and staff from refugee backgrounds about their experiences and to discuss as a group some of the issues raised in the film.
We will be providing food from Taste of Lebanon on the night, and we will try and provide options for all dietary requirements, so please list your dietaries when registering.
This event is part of Harmony Week at the University of Newcastle.
