Jas Rawlinson is an award-winning keynote speaker, advocate and author who empowers survivors and communities to transform shame into strength through the power of storytelling.

Jas is bringing her keynote presentation to the University of Newcastle to mark the start of Family and Domestic Violence Prevention Month in May – a month dedicated to raising awareness of the social and personal impacts of domestic and family violence.

In this presentation you will hear:

  • Jas’s personal story of rising above domestic and sexual violence, and transforming shame into strength and fear into focus
  • The three most common red flags of coercive control, and how to detect the warning signs before they turn physical (recognising that males can be victims as well)
  • Understanding the steps that we, as individuals, can take to stand against violence against women (without putting our safety at risk or moving overseas to join a NFP!)
