What is University Mental Health Day?
The University of Newcastle joins universities across Australia in celebrating University Mental Health Day (UMHD).
University Mental Health Day aims to bring together our diverse university community to inspire conversations, campaign, take action and create change so that together we can make mental health a university-wide priority supporting ongoing, year-round impact.
There are many mental health services, both internal and external to the University to support your mental health if you’re doing it tough. All members of our University community should be able to thrive.
Take some time to prioritise your mental health and browse our personal support resources and services available to you.
Event Description:
In honour of University Mental Health Day, you can pick up information and resources at one of several events taking place for students and staff over three days:
Tuesday 6 May
Auchmuty Library, Callaghan: Join Headspace and the University Health Promotion Coordinator for conversations resources to support your mental health from 11am - 1pm.
Wednesday 7 May
Auchmuty Courtyard Callaghan: Take a moment out of your day to experience A Creative Ground from 11am - 1pm. Join us on our mat as we participate in experiencing a pause, where we intuitively create art using beautiful materials for yourself or others to observe and appreciate.
Along the way, we invite you to engage in the present moment, connect with others and enjoy the process of creativity and curiosity to nourish your mental health and wellbeing.
If you are looking for a bit of extra support, our Counselling team, Headspace, and Batyr will also be there for a chat.
In the event of wet weather the event will be held in L326 inside the Auchmuty Library.
Auchmuty Library Callaghan: Access health information and resources from our Health Promotion Coordinator from 11am – 1pm.
Thursday 8 May 2025
NUspace: Access health information and resources from our Health Promotion Coordinator from 11am – 1pm.
