Finding Work in Australia

Finding Work in Australia is designed to support international students in developing self-awareness, identifying opportunities, and improving their employability in the Australian market.
Australian workplaces can be confusing for international students, as communication, networking protocols, office etiquette, and recruitment practices may differ from their home country. This workshop will help you navigate these differences and prepare for the Australian job market. By attending, you will also gain access to a range of online resources and activities to support the workshop content.
What will you learn?
In this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Highlight your skills, strengths, values, and interests to align with your career goals.
- Use effective job search techniques to identify relevant opportunities.
- Understand workplace rights and adapt to Australian workplace culture.
- Strengthen cover letters and resumes for discipline-specific roles, such as internships and graduate work, to increase your chances of being invited to a job interview.
- Update your LinkedIn profile to clarify your career goals and expand your professional networks in Australia.
Request a resume review
The first step to finding work in Australia is to have an effective resume. Submit your resume for a review through the Ask A Question button in CareerHub prior to attending the workshop. Students are also encouraged to book a follow-up career consultation after the workshop to develop a personalised career plan.
