City of Newcastle International Student Welcome
A group of international students sit smiling together
Each year, the City of Newcastle proudly welcomes a new cohort of international students who have chosen our city as their home while they study. This special event brings together students, staff, and community leaders to celebrate the rich cultural diversity international students bring to Newcastle and the important role they play in shaping our city and University community.
Hosted in partnership with the City of Newcastle, the University of Newcastle and Study NSW, the morning will include an official welcome from the Lord Mayor and the Vice-Chancellor, cultural performances by local Indigenous groups, and a collaborative weaving activity symbolising connection, belonging and shared stories.
More than just a welcome, this event is an opportunity to meet new people, build friendships, and feel truly at home in Newcastle.
