Autonomy Day

The biggest student party of the year is back!
Autonomy Day is the annual celebration of the University of Newcastle becoming independent from the University of New South Wales in 1965, and it's become a major part of the student experience at the University.
Get ready for an unforgettable Autonomy Day as we throw the ultimate dress-up party to celebrate 60 years of the University of Newcastle. Join us at the newly refurbished Bar on the Hill as we celebrate and dance away the day to six decades of history and student pride with live music, free food, a silent disco, awesome activities. You won’t want to miss it!
Tickets are available here. Students may only bring 1 x non-student guest each.
- Student $15 (student ID required)
- Non-Student $25 (must be accompanied by a student)
Theme: Celebrating the decades!
Get excited, it’s time to raid the closets of the past! Will you groove in a psychedelic ’60s outfit, bring the ’70s disco fever, glam it up like the ’80s, or go full Y2K (or even dress in the now)? Pick your decade and dress to impress!✨
This is an 18+ event, so make sure you bring your student ID and +18 ID!
You will be refused entry if you are intoxicated or wearing clothing with offensive language or imagery. Do not bring alcohol with you or carry it across campus. It will be confiscated.
