Public Interest Disclosure awareness training
PID awareness session
Public Interest Disclosure (PID) training
On Thursday 13 October UON will host a Public Interest Disclosure awareness session delivered by the NSW Ombudsman.
This one hour session is designed to help you better understand the University’s PID reporting process, why it’s important for whistle-blowers to report correctly for protection, and what to do if you suspect fraud and corruption.
These training sessions are held annually and help:
- make sure people right across the University are aware of our obligations as public officials; and
- create an organisational climate where all staff members feel confident and comfortable reporting wrongdoing
If you would like to nominate to attend please contact Dianne Green , Executive Assistant to the Director Council Services and Chancellery on T: +61 2 4921 8865 or E: Dianne.Green@newcastle.edu.au
The awareness session will be held in ATC210 theater - Callaghan Campus.
What is PID?
As UON staff members, we’re considered public officials. This means if you suspect, or become aware of any fraud, corruption, misconduct or maladministration in relation to any aspect of UON’s operations, this is a matter of public interest and you have a responsibility to report it.
Reporting fraudulent or corrupt practice is also known as ‘whistle blowing’ or making a public interest disclosure (PID). UON does not tolerate corrupt conduct and takes any reports of such behaviour very seriously. You can find out more via the Fraud and Corruption pages on our website.
