Longitudinal data users workshops
The Priority Research Centre for Generational Health and Ageing is holding a two day workshop for longitudinal data users.
The workshops are designed for data users, researchers, academics, policy makers and students to prepare participants with a solid understanding of the available Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health (ALSWH) survey and linked data resources.
The ALSWH is a national longitudinal health study involving more than 53,000 women, having collected over 20 years of data on the health and wellbeing of Australian women. ALSWH includes four cohorts of women (born 1989-95, 1973-78, 1946-51 and 1921-26), allowing for within and between generational comparisons, as well as providing linked data to several national and state based administrative health data resources.
The two day workshop will cover the following:
- Day 1 (4 October) - Using the ALSWH survey data
Suitable for first time ALSWH data users or those wanting a refresher. This workshop provides an overview of the study and the data collection, discusses the strengths and limitations of the survey data and what data resources are available for researchers.
- Day 2 (5 October) - Using the ALSWH linked data
Participants will receive an introduction to the available linked datasets, advice on dealing with their specific characteristics and tips for combining the ALSWH survey data with the linked data.
