The Priority Research Centre for Generational Health and Ageing is conducting a one-day seminar on designing and conducting focus groups.

The seminar will provide an interactive and informative overview of focus group procedures, including the appropriate use of focus groups, developing questions and moderating skills.

Those who are interested in holding focus groups for qualitative research are welcome to attend.

Workshop objectives will include:

  • understanding of when to use focus groups
  • understanding of how to construct focus group questions and prompts
  • practice how to conduct a focus group
  • how to facilitate a focus group

Cost: $100 non-students, $50 students.
A light lunch will be provided.

About the presenter:
Dr Meredith Tavener is a Research Fellow at the UON Research Centre for Generational Health and Ageing. Dr Tavener is a social gerontologist, with particular skills in applying qualitative evaluation methods, and specialising in analysis of longitudinal qualitative data to determine how people narrate and assign meaning to key life stages.
