Performing To Camera: Short Course

Are you preparing for the HSC, a music audition, or are interested in creating a vocal performance for an online audience?

This online course, offered by the University of Newcastle’s School of Creative Industries Community Music Program, is an invaluable step in your musical career and will be a fun and engaging experience, in a supportive environment.

Aimed at vocalists of all ages and facilitated by singer and vocal coach, Marissa Saroca, course participants will record/film themselves singing to backing tracks for the digital world and will explore:

  • Breath support
  • Use of vowels and consonants
  • Phrasing
  • Personality through performance
  • Combating nerves
  • Posture and physicality during recording
  • Microphone technique if applicable

The course is delivered each Thursday at 5:30-7pm for 5 weeks via Zoom (details on registration).

About Marissa Saroca: As a professional singer/musician for most of her life, Marissa Saroca has two independent original albums, was on Team Lea (Salonga) of season one of The Voice of the Philippines, has two ABC Newcastle Music Awards for Best Female Vocals, and an extensive recording, coaching, and live performance career.
