Join Brass Band Newcastle under the Musical Direction of Conrad Curry at their debut concert, "A Tribute to the Newcastle Steelworks Band".

In 2024, we commemorate the centennial of the Newcastle Steelworks Band's remarkable 1924 tour of Britain. From the industrial City of Newcastle NSW, and primarily composed of local steelworkers from the BHP plant, the band left a profound imprint on the international music scene, dramatically boosting the stature of Australian banding globally.

To celebrate the band’s legacy, the newly formed Brass Band – Newcastle, comprising the finest local brass and percussion players, will perform at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music to honour the historical achievements of the Newcastle Steelworks Band. It is also aimed at inspiring continued excellence and community engagement in the local and global brass band scenes.

This tribute is a celebration of a century of musical innovation and community impact, originated by a group of industrious steelworkers whose musical journey left an indelible mark on the world stage. Join us in paying tribute to their legacy through a spectacular display of musical talent and historical remembrance.

Brass Band Newcastle conducted by Conrad Curry will be making their first ever debut performance this year and all for a fantastic cause bringing the regions finest players together and raising money for Dementia Australia. The band brings together the best brass and percussion players in the Greater Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley to collaborate in the performance of musical repertoire composed for the brass band idiom.
