quokkas group and guide dog in front of honeysuckle harbour
Attention creative kids and families!
Don't miss this fun filled concert at Newcastle Conservatorium of Music featuring Newcastle kids super group The Quokkas.
From 10:30am, you can join the fun in the foyer with free face painting. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase from the canteen (card only).
At 11:15am, the concert commences and hitting the stage are our youngest new creatives, our Early Childhood Music students. They'll be showing off what they have been learning in their classes alongside their talented teachers.
Then get ready for The Quokkas at 11:30am! The Quokkas will perform for 45 minutes, featuring a very special combined number with our Early Childhood Music students!
"The Quokkas" are a high energy five-piece kids' band made up of five professional musicians (and a Guide Dog 😊) of different backgrounds and abilities. A vision impaired Australia’s Got Talent grand finalist, former Adelaide Crows footballer, a Dutch music therapist, a reality TV star, and even the niece of Australian music royalty (Christine Anu) have come together. The Quokkas’ mission is to “Make Music That Makes A Difference” and they’re passionate about exposing children to a diversity of voices and promoting a message of inclusivity. The Quokkas currently have over two million views on YouTube and average 100,000 streams a month. With a catalogue of nearly 40 original songs (plus many covers), and having played shows to crowds as large as 25,000 people , The Quokkas’ message of joy and acceptance will ring through the Conservatorium of Music as they play tracks like 'Everybody's Welcome', 'Different Families', 'Hokey Pokey' and 'I Like You Just The Way You Are'.
Following the show, you are invited to take photos with The Quokkas in the foyer.
So get ready to sing your lungs out, dance like no one's watching and shake those sillies out!
