Join the College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing as Professor David Newman discusses all things fast jets – from performance characteristics and the effects of G forces, to how ejection seats work and aeromedical issues to consider. This talk will provide an overview of the human factors and performance limitations associated with flying fast jets.

Professor David Newman is a global leader in aviation medicine and 2022 Alumni Excellence Awards recipient. He has taught thousands of civilian and military doctors, pilots, and accident investigators around the world and his research has considerably advanced our understanding of the effects of the aerospace environment on humans. Professor Newman’s research covers the full spectrum of aerospace physiology, clinical aerospace medicine, aerospace biomechanics, and flight safety.

Professor Newman is a Visiting Professor of Aerospace Medicine at King’s College London, Founder and Managing Director of Flight Medicine Systems, and spent 13 years as a military officer and aviation medicine specialist in the Royal Australian Air Force.
