Why Do Scientists Cheat: Mass Hysteria, Conspiracies about Plagiarism, and Fabrication of Results.
Join Fulbright Distinguished Chair Professor Bob Camley from the Department of Physics. University of Colorado for a not-so-serious look at some famous examples of cheating and unethical behaviour in Physics. This includes the famous calculus dispute involving Leibnitz and Newton, the Great N-Ray Hoax, and some more recent examples. Finally, hear a short discussion of how serious cheating is in reality and how it differs across scientific disciplines.
Professor Bob Camley is currently in Australia for a six-month stint to work with Dr Karen Livesey from the Department of Information and Physical Sciences (physics) on a theoretical physics project exploring the use of magnetic nanomaterials in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
