Architecture Exhibition | Domesticity and Leisure
Cartel Exhibition Resized 2
The second-year exhibition of architecture proposes an architectural testing ground that will question preconceived notions of history, landscape, belonging, limit, ownership, intimacy, desire, leisure, comfort, luxury, conflict, interior, exterior, care, and seduction; as well as move away from current modes of ultrasecuritised, individualised, stable and aseptic domestic environments. This studio is questioning the presupposed notion of permanence that underpins housing production, and the durability of houses tied to private property when land is under threat.
We located our proposals on the “Stage 3 EastEnd Development” as some of the subsequent urban growth strategies in Newcastle currently involve the development of denser urban fabrics with multi-residential units. Nevertheless, we will critically address the possible aspirations of rapidly changing and emerging social landscapes.
This is the first step of a partnership between the School of Architecture and the City of Newcastle, which we will work on further in the near future. It is a pleasure to share our ideas and outcomes with the citizens of our city through a series of models, drawings and digital medium. The end of the event will be an Award Ceremony in which the Lord Major, CN's Planning and Environment Executive Director, Webber Architects and Everbright Design&Contracts PTY LTD as sponsors and the School of Architecture will introduce the winners of this year.
Please, join us at 2pm on Friday the 4th of November.
