Surfest
Surfest
The University of Newcastle is proud to partner with Surfest to help showcase the beauty of Newcastle on the world stage.
Surfest is the largest surfing festival in the southern hemisphere, attracting over 800 national and international competitors, from more than twelve countries.
In 2023 the university activated the main event at Merewether Beach during March 20 - 26. Among the competitors were two exceptional NUsport Student Athletes, Ellie Lambkin and Amelie Bourke, both studying a degree in Exercise Sports Science.
In 2024, we are proud to sponsor the Indigenous Round Classic, featuring competition participation from members of staff at The Wollotuka Institute, and running activations across the weekend in the First Nations Precinct.
We are excited to be able to support young people in chasing their dreams, strengthen our partnership with Indigenous communities within our region and help showcase Newcastle to a global audience.
We wish all competitors the best of luck!
