Description
If you are a practising teacher or educator with a passion for learning and teaching Mathematics then the Graduate Diploma in Education is the program for you. This program will enhance your existing skills as an mathematics educator, see you connect with the latest developments and research in the field.
Program learning outcomes
On successful completion of the program students will have:
- Advanced knowledge within a systematic and coherent body of knowledge that may include the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills in a new or existing discipline or professional area.
- Cognitive skills to review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge and identify and provide solutions to complex problems.
- Cognitive skills to think critically and to generate and evaluate complex ideas.
- Specialised technical and creative skills in a field of highly skilled and/or professional practice.
- Communication skills to demonstrate an understanding of theoretical concepts.
- Communication skills to transfer complex knowledge and ideas to a variety of audiences.

Admission information
Admission requirements
The Graduate Diploma in Education is an 80 unit postgraduate qualification, with admission available for qualified teachers who have one of the following qualifications or equivalent:
- Bachelor Honours Degree; or
- Bachelor Degree; or
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma plus two years' relevant work experience; or
- At least five years’ demonstrable relevant work experience.
The focus of the Graduate Diploma is the teaching of Mathematics, and relevant experience in this domain is preferred.
Admission into the Graduate Diploma in Education will be available to domestic students only.

Program requirements
The Graduate Diploma in Education requires students to successfully complete 80 units, which is comprised of:
- 10 units of core courses;
- 70 units of courses chosen from the course list.
Students must only complete courses that form part of the program, and must not complete more than 80 units.

Additional information
Through the Pathways and Academic Learning Support Centre, students can access a free suite of NUPrep preparation courses as well as Academic Learning Support.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can draw on the assistance and support provided by the Indigenous Student Support and Development service through the Wollotuka Institute.
