We have an online carpooling service to make it easier for students and staff to form carpools to our Newcastle campus at Callaghan. You can register for a journey as either a passenger or driver.

We have 39 dedicated carpooling parking bays for carpool users.

How do I get a carpooling permit?

  • To sign up and find people to share your journey, visit our online carpooling system. Fill in your details and then you will be able to find people to carpool with.

When can I get a carpooling permit?

  • To get a permit visit Infrastructure and Facilities Services in the Services Building between 8.00am and 5.00pm. 
  • Only 80 permits are available each year.

What is the cost of a carpooling permit?

  • Carpooling permits are issued free of charge on a first come first served basis, however you also need a valid paid parking permit to park on campus as Traffic and parking rules apply.

What are the carpooling rules @ Callaghan?

  • Only use carpooling bays if you are carpooling. Three persons per vehicle is the minimum number to be able to use the carpooling bays
  • Display the carpooling permit on your dashboard in conjunction with a valid paid parking permit. Traffic and parking rules apply.
  • The carpooling permit may be withdrawn if carpooling rules are abused
  • Carpooling permits are valid until 31 December

Carpool @ Central Coast Campus, Ourimbah

The University has expanded its carpooling with 8 designated parking bays at its Central Coast Campus, Ourimbah available to staff and students.

How do I get a carpooling permit?

  • Obtain a carpooling permit from Infrastructure and Facilities Services at the Central Coast Campus.

When can I get a carpooling permit?

  • Infrastructure and Facilities Services will initially issue up to 40 carpooling permits for 2015. As numbers are limited you need to be quick.

What is the cost of a carpooling permit?

  • Carpooling permits are issued free of charge on a first come first served basis

Where are the carpooling bays located?

  • There are 4 bays in each carpark. Bays are clearly identified by marking and signage. If you follow the carpooling rules outlined above, you can park in any vacant carpooling bay.

Can I use Callaghan carpooling bays?

  • Yes, as long as there are three persons in the car and a valid parking ticket is displayed

What happens if I lose the carpooling permit?

  • You need to complete a Statutory Declaration and submit to Infrastructure and Facilities Services who will then replace the permit.
