Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award - Criteria
Nominees must demonstrate excellence in one of the following (max 500 words):
- Development of teaching practice, curricula or other initiatives that foster inclusion for a diverse range of students; or
- Engagement with the wider community to foster inclusion, support or access for University priority groups; or
- Development and implementation of inclusive practices, programs or initiatives that lead to greater support, access, representation, participation or sense of belonging for either staff or students; or
- Demonstrating leadership in promoting and demonstrating inclusive and supportive behaviours in the workplace or learning environment; or
- Addressing gender inequality in a constructive manner to improve diversity in research groups and other collaborative forums such as decision-making committees and conferences.
Nominations should clearly state which one of the above criteria and which of the University diversity and inclusion priority areas aligns to their nomination.
The University’s diversity and inclusion priority areas include:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander peoples
- People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- People of diverse genders or sexual identity
- People with disability, or ongoing medical or mental health conditions (note that nominations for this area should be submitted under the Accessibility Award category)
- Gender equity – particularly women in STEMM and women in leadership
- Students from low socio-economic backgrounds
Nominations must evidence the impact the activity has had on equity, diversity or inclusion and all activity mentioned must be in excess of what would be expected in the normal performance of the nominee's duties. Both academic and professional staff are eligible for nomination.
