Adverse circumstances

Course Coordinators

The university is currently making changes to the way Course Coordinators assess Adverse Circumstances applications.

As of March 7th, 2025, there will be two systems running in parallel.

For any extension requests for assessment items listed in Canvas, Course Coordinators will now assess applications through the new Adverse Circumstances system in ServiceNow.

For all other requests, including requests to reschedule formal exams, placements, exemptions from compulsory attendance, or special considerations within the Joint Medical Program, Course Coordinators can assess applications through the legacy Adverse Circumstances system.

Students may need to apply for adverse circumstances if an illness or serious circumstance beyond their control prevents or affects their preparation or performance in an exam or assessment.

Students can apply for adverse circumstances for any assessment.
