The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requires all Teacher Education Students enrolled in Initial Teacher Education programs in New South Wales to pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students prior to undertaking their FINAL placement.

Teacher Education Students intending to undertake their FINAL placement should ensure that they have passed both the Literacy and Numeracy tests prior to enrolling via Nustar.

The Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students is administered by the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER). ACER offer only FOUR Literacy and Numeracy test windows each year for Teacher Education Students to select and register.

For more Information and to veiw LANTITE Registration dates visit the ACER website: https://teacheredtest.acer.edu.au/register/test-dates

Test results are usually released to Teacher Education Students four to six weeks following the advertised test window closing date.

It is highly recommended that Initial Teacher Education Students ensure that they pass both the Literacy and Numeracy tests well before their final year. This will allow additional time to register and resit the test or tests, if required.

Additional Compliance requirement prior to MyHub enrolment in Final Year placement course (not required to be uploaded to SONIA).

Conflict of Interest on a professional experience placement is any situation where there could be perceived or actual favouritism or over-familiarity towards a teacher education student undertaking professional experience.

  • Students may not contact schools or centres to arrange their own placements. All placements are arranged by the PEU.
  • Students may not be placed in a school or a centre they attended less than seven (7) years ago.
  • Students may not be placed in a school or centre attended for previous placement (unless given approval under the NESA Waiver B arrangements for final placements)
  • Students may not be placed in a school or centre where a close relative or friend is currently working or attending.
  • Students may not be placed in a school or centre where they have worked in paid employment for 20 days or more over a 12 month period.

Students in the Social Sciences program require NSW Health verification to attend placement at NSW Health sites.  NSW Health will not accept students who are not fully verified.

Do not delay starting the verification process as your immunisation schedule can take 1 month, and a minimum of 8 weeks for NSW Health to process documentation.
