Nursing Rural Immersion Program

The Rural Immersion Program gives third year nursing students the opportunity to complete their third year of study in Tamworth, including all laboratory and simulation sessions at the Tamworth Education Centre (TEC). Successful applicants will begin their year of study in Tamworth from Tuesday, 27th January 2026.

Why go rural for your placement?

• Enjoy the flexibility of remote learning with the advantage of continuous mentoring from local academics, access to study centres, and professional guidance throughout the program.
• All simulation learning completed at state-of-the-art labs within the Tamworth Education Centre.
• Attend interdisciplinary education sessions.
• Access subsidised accommodation and live onsite at the Tamworth Education Centre for just $100 per week. Bursaries for private accommodation are also available for eligible applicants.
• Connect with fellow nursing students, and other health students completing year long placements in Tamworth. Immerse yourself in the local community through social mixers and activities planned throughout the year.
• Opportunity for employment at the local hospital or aged care facilities right where you’ll be training.
