The University Gallery, Senta Taft Hendry Museum and Watt Space Gallery
Student Engagement
A core function of the University Galleries is supporting student development through the provision of workplace opportunities to upskill and become Life-ready Graduates. These placements offer students from all disciplines the chance to build practical professional skills and to develop their creative thinking practices.
Working with the Galleries enables students to challenge their existing perspectives and methodologies, approach problem-solving from new angles, to encounter new ideas through engagement with curated and researched exhibitions, and to gain a breadth of industry experience.
Student Opportunities
We support Career-ready placements and have a number of opportunities available each semester. These opportunities can be cross disciplinary, engaging with the Galleries, our Museum and the Art Collection.
We have also launched First Nations Cadetships, in partnership with Newcastle Art Gallery, to offer opportunities of First Nations students to develop their creative and professional experience, and work within a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team.
If you have an enquiry regarding student placement opportunities available, please email us at universitygallery@newcastle.edu.au.
