Venue sponsorship program
The University of Newcastle’s Conservatorium of Music is a premier music venue in the heart of Newcastle’s cultural precinct. Boasting a long and proud history of music education, performance and community engagement, the Con hosts more than 100 events each year, attracting more than 10 000 visitors.
The Conservatorium of Music offers several spaces for event hire including the Harold Lobb Concert Hall, the Foyer and various music studios, that possess world class acoustics and state of the art facilities.
The Venue Sponsorship Program assists community groups and organisations wishing to access the Conservatorium of Music for concerts, performances and fundraisers. The program is intended for educational, cultural, and community groups that demonstrate financial hardship and is open to unincorporated community groups, Schools and not-for-profit organisations.
Sponsorship covers venue hire fees and basic staffing inclusions as outlined in the Sponsorship Agreement. Applicants must meet all standard conditions of hire and pay all additional charges such as public liability insurance, cancellation fees, additional audio-visual requirements, additional staffing such as ushers and box office staff. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have experience in delivering successful events, supported by a team of people and have a rigorous promotional plan in place that will ensure their event is well attended and delivered successfully.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for Venue Sponsorship you must:
- Be an incorporated not-for-profit group, incorporated community group, registered charity or school
- Have a track record of delivering successful, accessible and safe events
- Possess Public Liability Insurance
General exclusions and ineligibility
The University of Newcastle does not provide sponsorships for:
- Projects/ events that duplicate existing programs or events
- Activities that could be perceived as benefiting a political party or political campaigning
- Overtly religious activities that could be perceived as divisive within the community
