Creating Community

The residential leadership team is made up of our Residential Mentors and Residential Associations. Our leaders work tirelessly with Student Living to build an inclusive and respectful community, leading by example. Strong, supportive and meaningful relationships are an important part of this community.

Your RMs and Associations are there to help you connect with other residents, have an amazing residential experience and build the lifelong friendships that are unique to on-campus living. You will have the opportunity to meet and get to know your Residential Mentors and Residential Associations when you move in.

Residential Mentors (RMs) are residents employed by Student Living. They are responsible for supporting the wellbeing of our residents, assisting in the transition to independent living and providing general support for the unique experience of living on campus.

To help you get to know your housemates and stay up-to-date with what’s happening at Student Living, your RM will hold regular meetings and activities. Your RM is your first port of call for any questions, queries, support or help. Whether your concern is dealing with homesickness or where to pick up your student card, your RM will point you in the right direction.

RMs are provided with extensive training including mental health education, sexual consent, creating respectful environments and drug and alcohol education.

Your Residential Association represents your whole residence and organises great events like formal dinners, sport competitions and opportunities to get involved with charities to help you contribute to your community.

With dedicated study spaces and a community of fellow students, living on campus is a great way to reach your academic goals. You can pair up with friends or neighbours for a study session to help you to achieve your best results, and our Support Team is also here to help coordinate assistance for residents who may be struggling with their studies. We also acknowledge and celebrate the academic achievements of our residents.

We want all of our residents to succeed in their chosen careers. When you live on campus, you can tap into exclusive opportunities to build your personal skills and enhance your employability. Our leadership opportunities support residents at the beginning of their professional journeys by improving professional capabilities and life skills.

Community Levy Allocation

When you live on campus, you have access to peer-support, sporting, cultural and academic challenges, festivals and other social events specifically designed for our residents. 100% of your Community Levy contributes to funding these activities.
