Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Research Excellence

The  University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Research Excellence recognise research excellence in outstanding early career and mid career researchers from the University of Newcastle.

The University of Newcastle recognises the significant contribution to research excellence our talented early career and mid career researchers have made.

Each Faculty recognises their most outstanding researcher with a Faculty award. An outstanding researcher from a campus other than Callaghan, if not already selected for an award, will also be recognised. The Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence is then presented to the most outstanding nomination received for a faculty or regional campus award.

Winners of a faculty or regional campus award will receive $2,000 (paid as salary or a travel grant) and a certificate. The Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence recipient will receive $10,000 (paid as a research grant held at the University of Newcastle) and a certificate. The awards are presented at the annual staff awards in December each year.

Only one of the nominators may be from the nominees own Academic Unit. The first-named nominator will be responsible for co-ordinating the completion and submission of the nomination form and testimonials.  A researcher may only be the subject of one nomination per year. Please refer to the guidelines below:

  • Guidelines (not yet available for 2013)
