Research Performance
The Research Systems and Performance team coordinates institutional research reporting and provides insights that help teams better understand and enhance their performance.
With access to publication metrics, income data, impact measures and host of other indicators, the team can provide researchers with data-driven intelligence and advice on ways to boost their research excellence, engagement and impact.
Research reporting
Researchers can request support for a range of reporting, including:
- scheduled reporting, from institutional KPIs to tracking operational activities
- customised data requests for individual researchers, research teams, and Schools and Colleges
- external reporting requirements.
Researchers can request data insights reports via ServiceNow (Research) - available for University staff only.
Analytical Tools
The University subscribes to a suite of bibliometric databases and analytical tools that help researchers and the institution:
- evaluate research performance and reputation
- enable national and international benchmarking
- identify potential collaboration and partnership opportunities
- support strategic recruitment and academic promotions
- measure and demonstrate research impact
- facilitate strategy development and planning.

Research Outputs
Researchers can get support to review and categorise research outputs as part of the University research outputs collection.
We use the NURO platform to help researchers maintain their research outputs and ensure they are available on Open Research Newcastle.
