New Staff Grants

New Staff Grants are aimed at assisting new academic staff (within 12 months of appointment) to establish their research at the University of Newcastle. New Staff Grants are negotiated between the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and the Head of School prior to the commencement of appointment.  The staff member's Head of School is to contact the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) directly in relation to funding allocation.

Staff who have had a change in circumstance (eg change in campus location of Faculty) and believe they are equivalent to a new staff member can submit a request for an eligibility ruling to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).

In 2009, the level of funding will be up to $5,000 from the Research Advisory Group (RAG) budget and matching Faculty/School funding will be required. RAG  funding is based on the New Staff Grants Funding Matrix.

Once approved, recipients are required to complete a Grant Establishment Form in order to establish a New Staff grant.  See link below.

No application form is required by the RGIC. However, please note that some Faculties require staff to complete a Faculty pro-forma. Refer to the list below.
