Emerging Research Leaders Program
The Emerging Research Leaders (ERL) program is a newly established strategic initiative of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). The program is designed to foster and support targeted emerging research leaders within the University, in recognition of their achievement and of the important role that they will play in the University’s research future.
Currently in the pilot stage, the ERL program will include a series of targeted workshops and professional and research development activities to be held over 12 months.
Additionally, the program will provide participants with up to $15,000 (until 31/12/12) to cover the costs of professional development activities and/or the development of research capacity.
Approximately 40 candidates, in total, across all faculties have been targeted by the DVC(R) and invited to participate in the pilot phase. Participants in the pilot have been identified through their current research performance and outputs, for example, publications, external income, supervising candidates to completion and RHD load. Subject to the success of this pilot future rounds may be held
Those who have been invited to participate and wish to access their funds must email Rebecca Palmer with the plans for the use of the funds, timeline and an estimated budget. Funds must be used for professional development activities/development of research capacity but not to undertake research. For example funds can be used to attend a conference on leadership but not to present a research paper at a scientific conference.
