Obtaining Approval
Approval must be obtained from the Animal Care and Ethics Committee before animals are used for research and teaching purposes. Application for approval for the use of animals is made to the ACEC using the prescribed application forms.

Attachments and SOPs to Obtaining Approval
Omission of essential information is a common cause of delays in the processing of an application. Attachments have been developed for specific procedures and situations, to ensure that your application includes the required information pertaining to that procedure or situation.
Rather than use an attachment, you may choose to develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for a particular procedure or technique. An SOP can be used to replace an attachment or a number of attachments to the application form.
