Creativity and Creative Industries in Regional Australia: Interconnected Networks, Shared Knowledge and Choice Making Agents.

You are invited to a research presentation and book launch hosted by the University of Newcastle Complexity Group!

The book launch is the final activity associated with an ARC Linkage project looking at the creative industries in the Hunter as a creative system in action. The book analyses the cultural and creative industries of the Hunter, offering a new theoretical view of its creative ecosystem. It presents the lived experience of creative workers involved in the art, design, media and information technology sectors and offers a unique ethnographic study on creativity and cultural production in regional Australia and beyond. Learn more about the book here.  Professor Kate Nash, Dean and Head of School for Humanities, Creative Industries & Social Science will officially launch the book.

About your hosts: The University of Newcastle Complexity Group is an emerging collective of trans-disciplinary researchers exploring the topic of complexity. With their quarterly meetings and workshops, they have been expanding in numbers. They have recently begun co-designing a shared complexity framework for problem solving, moving beyond linear reductionist thinking to allow an understanding of the self-organising dynamics of complex systems.
