Description
This course is the first of two courses that involve students in the design and conduct of an independent research project and the production of a written thesis. The project and thesis must sit within the field of educational scholarship and research.

Multi-term sequence
This course is part of a multi-term sequence. Both Part A and Part B must be completed to meet the requirements of the sequence. Part A and Part B must be completed in consecutive terms. Students must complete Part A before completing Part B. Students must complete the sequence within a twelve month period. If students complete Part A but are unable to complete Part B within the timeframe, they must re-enrol in Part A. Part A cannot be completed as a standalone course, it will only count towards your program once you have successfully completed Part B.

This course replaces the following course(s): EDUC4975. Students who have successfully completed EDUC4975 are not eligible to enrol in EDUC4975A.

On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate a capacity to conduct an independent research project.
2. Critically analyse educational research and scholarship.
3. Work effectively with a research mentor or supervisor.

This course replaces EDUC4975. If you have successfully completed EDUC4975 you cannot enrol in this course.
Assumed knowledge
To enrol in this course students must have completed a minimum of 240 units of undergraduate study.
