Department of Rural Health
The University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health (UoNDRH) focuses on
- facilitating student placements and learning
- enhancing the health of local communities through community projects and
- conducting research into rural health issues.
The UoNDRH is the umbrella department that incorporates the Commonwealth funded University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) program, Rural Clinical Training and Support (RCTS) program and a number of smaller programs.
Placement options

Student placements
Our program has staff and facilities located in Tamworth, Taree, Armidale and Moree - giving students the opportunity to enjoy a unique lifestyle while you complete your placement.

Community engagement
We seek not only to provide health education and services to our local community, but also support disadvantaged communities and to provide our students with first hand exposure to community issues.

Growing research expertise
Our investment in research is reflected in our strategy, focussing on rural workforce, education, Indigenous health and clinical evidence.
