Jacquie Svenson Op-Ed in Newcastle Herald on proposed Crown Lands legislation
Monday, 6 January 2014
Jacquie Svenson of the UNLC discusses the proposed changes to the Crown Lands legislation.
The NSW Upper House will soon debate changes to the Crown Lands legislation that could fundamentally change how public recreational land can be used in NSW. The changes also across issues that are the subject of a current court challenge by the University of Newcastle Legal Centre on behalf of a Newcastle community group, as to use of King Edward Park Headland Reserve (NSW Crown land). Jacquie Svenson, UNLC solicitor acting in the case, argues that the changes are unnecessary and not in the public interest.
