Our responsibility
With more than 37,000 students and 2,600 staff across 14 campuses and affiliated centres, it is the University’s responsibility to lead by example on climate action. This means embedding sustainability principles at the core of everything we do.

Sustainable Development Goals
Sustainability team
The Infrastructure Facilities and Services group has a dedicated Sustainability Manager who coordinates activities to progress our achievement of the Environmental Sustainability Plan 2019-2025 goals. The Sustainability Manager is assisted by experts in various areas from across the University.
The Environmental Sustainability Committee provides the organisational oversight of the Environmental Sustainability Plan 2019-2025 and consists of members from across the University including teaching and research areas.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
