Effective Financial Management of Research Workshop
The workshop is tailored to Research Grant Holders, Heads of School who approve financial transactions and administrative staff who process financial transactions and/or provide advice to researchers on expenditure.
This workshop is mandatory training for all Researchers who hold research funds. Attendance is required within the first year of receiving grant funding.
This workshop will provide an overview of the responsibilities in financial management of research including:
- planning your budget
- responsibilities when spending research funds – eligible and ineligible items
- responsibilities when approving transactions
- conflicts of interest
- salary on-costs and leave implications when employing staff
- purchasing Policy and Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) implications
- consequences of inappropriate expenditure
