Steve is a philanthropist, focused on peace and sustainable development, with an extensive background in international business development and entrepreneurship, high technology and global peacefulness. Steve will speak about the state of global peace, as well as his experience with high-tech investments and philanthropy. He will also share his insights on the factors that create peace and what qualities make a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Steve Killelea AM - Biography
Steve Killelea AM is a successful Australian IT entrepreneur. In 2000, Steve and his wife Deborah founded The Charitable Foundation, which is now one of the largest private overseas aid organisations based in Australia. The Foundation is dedicated to helping eradicate poverty and conflict through humanitarian relief, development assistance and the pursuit of peace.
In 2007, Steve also founded an independent global research institute; the Institute for Economics & Peace, which focuses on the relationship between business, peace and economic development. A non-profit and non-partisan organisation, the Institute is one of the world's most impactful think tanks. The Institute is focused on measuring peace, calculating the economic cost of violence, analysing country-level risk and understanding positive peace. Its research is used by many multi-laterals including the United Nations, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Steve serves on the President’s Circle for Club de Madrid, the largest forum of former world leaders working to strengthen democracy and is also an honorary president of Religions for Peace, the world’s largest organisation working on inter-religious challenges.
In 2010, Steve was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his service to the community through the global peace movement and the provision of humanitarian aid to the developing world. His commitment to peace has also earned him two Nobel Peace Prize nominations, along with a long list of awards and prizes recognising the significant contributions to peace he has made through his work.
Steve travels the world promoting his view that business, governments and educational institutions need to focus more on peacefulness and the structures that create it. His mantra is “Peace is good for business”.
