Welcome to the portal for accessing essential resources tailored for pharmacists actively engaged in the NSW UTI and OC Pharmacy trials. These downloadable study packs include resources intended to support service delivery and professional practice in community pharmacy.

UTI

These resource and education links are intended for pharmacists participating in the NSW Government-Sponsored Clinical Trial: Management of Urinary Tract Infections by Community Pharmacists.

Mandatory education:

Australasian College of Pharmacy Uncomplicated Cystitis Treatment – Pharmacist Training (NSW)

  • This activity has been accredited for 1.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 1.5 CPD credits) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan which can be converted to 1.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 3 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.
  • Accreditation Code: A2303PGA1
  • These modules are currently FREE for members of Guild/ACP which may change. There is a cost for non-members - please check with your preferred provider.

Or;

Pharmaceutical Society of Australia Managing uncomplicated cystitis (Urinary Tract Infection)

  • This activity has been accredited for 2.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 2.5 CPD credits) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan, which can be converted to 2.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 5 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.
  • Accreditation Code: CONL22022
  • These modules are currently FREE for members of PSA which may change. There is a cost for non-members - please check with your preferred provider.

And;

The University of Newcastle UTI Education Modules (free)

  • It is recommended that 2.5 Group 1 CPD be recorded for the purposes of self-directed CPD.
  • Free to all participants in the NSW Pharmacy Trial

Optional CPD for upskilling in UTI prescribing and clinical aspects:

National Prescribing Curriculum (NPC) Urinary tract infection 2023 (free)

  • It is recommended that 1 Group 1 CPD be recorded for the purposes of self-directed CPD.
  • The National Prescribing Curriculum (NPC) is a series of interactive case-based modules that encourage confident and rational prescribing. This module focuses on a case study which involves managing a patient presenting with dysuria (or pain when urinating).

Patient Guide: collecting a midstream urine sample to diagnose a urinary tract infection (Government of Western Australia) (free)

  • This consumer resource can be provided to patients presenting with a UTI to assist and guide them in collecting a midstream urine sample.

PSA Urinary tract infection self-care fact card (free)

  • This consumer resource can be provided to patients to educate them on what a UTI is and how to manage symptoms.

Oral Contraception

These resource and education links are intended for pharmacists participating in the NSW Government-Sponsored Clinical Trial: Management of Urinary Tract Infections by Community Pharmacists.

  • This activity has been accredited for 3.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 3.5 CPD credits) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan, which can be converted to 3.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 7 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.
  • Accreditation Code: CONL2310 - CONL2310A

Family Planning FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive & Sexual Health (Online)

  • Upskill in reproductive and sexual health using the latest clinical research and a flexible learning method. This blended learning course comprises self-paced online learning, interactive live case discussions, reflective learning, and assessment.

Family Planning NSW: What suits me? Contraception options (free)

  • This resource can be provided to patients to inform them of available contraceptive options. If the patient indicates that they would like to try an alternative method of contraception, encourage them to speak with their GP.

Healthdirect: Contraception Options (free)

  • This online resource provides an overview of what contraception is and the types of contraception that are available. This can be used to assist you during a consultation with a patient who is enquiring about alternative contraceptive options.

True Relationships & Reproductive Health (free)

  • This website has a variety of factsheets and resources which are available for download. Not only does this website offer information on contraception, but it also covers other areas of sexual and reproductive health such as women’s health, puberty, sexual assault and medical termination of pregnancy.

Government of Western Australia North Metropolitan Health Service (free)

  • This consumer resource provides information on contraceptive methods and their effectiveness.

Healthdirect: Health checks for women (free)

  • This resource can be used to inform women about the benefits of getting regular sexual and reproductive health checks with their GP.
