About Us

To advance knowledge and understanding on disaster resilience and sustainable development.

This research group focuses on disaster risk reduction and resilience spanning across different sectors. For example, focusing on post-disaster housing systems relating to recovery and reconstruction, often involving evaluative studies of projects. Research in this area encompasses housing issues that extends to the exploration of approaches to building resilience through building codes, land use planning, and ‘building back better’. Many projects are concerned with examining institutional aspects and opportunities for community-based approaches towards enabling disaster resilience. Research in this area is linked to climate change adaptation, urbanisation and sustainable development.
