Goals

  • APRC will enhance the global impact, reputation, standing and recognition of the University through strategic engagement with world-class universities and education and research partnerships with Asia-Pacific region institutions.
  • APRC will build on the University of Newcastle's reputation, profile and trusted relationships with pathway institutions, government, and global partners and develop and implement the University of Newcastle strategy for the Asia-Pacific Region.
  • APRC will play a critical role in encouraging and promoting multidisciplinary research collaboration between researchers within the CHSF, University of Newcastle and partner institutions, industry and government in the Asia-Pacific region to engage in cutting-edge research on contemporary issues facing the region.
  • APRC will work with the Graduate Research Office and Key Agent Networks in the Asia-Pacific region to grow the number of international students and HDRs in our College disciplines to foster emerging research capacity across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • APRC will develop strategic partnerships with leading research institutions in the Asia-Pacific region in our relevant disciplines.
  • APRC will develop productive networks with international alumni, governments, industry, Asia-Pacific region research institutes, governments, businesses, social service agencies, educational institutions, creative industry partners, professional groups, and universities to support and promote high-quality two-way staff and student experience between UoN and the Asia Pacific region.
  • APRC will promote research collaboration between Colleges, Schools, Priority Research Centres, and Research Groups at the University of Newcastle to identify current and emerging research opportunities and encourage global mobility of academic and professional staff and students through strategic exchange and productive collaborations with trusted partners in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • APRC will sponsor/host Conferences, Workshops, Symposium, Seminars and Colloquium to build a network of like-minded multidisciplinary colleagues across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • APRC will work with the Office of Alumni and Philanthropy to foster meaningful strategic engagement between the Asia-Pacific region alumni community, industry, government, and community stakeholders.
