Driving in Older People
Driving in Older People – Prof Kichu Nair 5:24
This microlearning aims to highlight how driving is challenging for older people as they progressively lose their sight and may develop arthritis in their neck, hands, and driving. If elderly people may lose their driving licence, it may also significantly impact their daily life and ability to be independent. Dementia is a risk factor for accidents. In Australia, between the onset of Dementia and proper diagnoses made by an expert, it takes an average of three years. Therefore, there could many undiagnosed people with Dementia driving every day within the community.
