CIFAL Global Network
The CIFAL Global Network comprises 31 International Training Centres for Authorities and Leaders. Centres are located across Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean. The network provides innovative training throughout the world. The network serves as a hub for the exchange of knowledge amongst government officials, the private sector and civil society.
This network is coordinated by UNITAR’s Decentralized Cooperation Programme (DCP's). Every centre is managed locally by a host institution. UNITAR provides academic content, technical support and quality assurance measures for its capacity-building activities. The majority of DCP’s training services are delivered through the CIFAL Global Network.
Areas of Work
The CIFAL Global Network recognises that there is a crucial need for capacity development in order to address the challenges communities worldwide are currently facing.
The training sessions and activities of the CIFAL centres focus on four major thematic areas:
- Urban Governance & Planning
- Economic Development
- Social Inclusion
- Environmental Sustainability
All underpinned by the Capacity for 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
This agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. The goals and targets will simulate action until 2030. The CIFAL Global Network is dedicated to help governments and other stakeholders build capacity to mainstream, implement and review Agenda 2030.
Each CIFAL specialises in thematic areas that are defined by the needs and priorities of the regions they serve. Their training programs provide access to knowledge, resources and best practices, while promoting multi-stakeholder collaboration in support of sustainable development.
