                                                Callaghan
Our presence at the Callaghan Campus, the traditional lands of the Pambalong clan of the Awabakal people, is centred on the acclaimed Birabahn Building. The design of the building resembles the Eaglehawk, known as Birabahn in the Awabakal language, and also pays respect to the memory of Birabahn the man and scholar, an important figure during the early colonial era. The Birabahn building (SAS) is located next to the Design Bus Stop along Ring Road.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
