Defence SME Training Seminar Series with Hunter Defence
Hunter Defence in collaboration with a number of it key affiliate organisations including The University of Newcastle, has launched a Defence Ready Seminar Series.
These seminars are designed to educate and prepare small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to progress from being ‘defence interested’ to ’defence ready’ - increasing SME's potential to become an Advanced Defence SME or an industry Supplier of Choice.
The series will be offered as a rolling 12-month program. The first of the seminar series Introduction to Defence was held at NewSpace on 4 November, including:
- Business case studies from Unitronix Managing Director, Tim Marshall and Boris Novak, Founder of Dexata.
- Government funding opportunities for capital improvements presentation by Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC) Business Facilitator Sam Wong.
- NI Business Development Manager Paul Scobie presentation on defence research grant funding schemes and how to engage with research at The University of Newcastle.
Some of the topics to be covered in next years seminars are; identifying opportunities, certifications and accreditations, procurement processes, security (ITAR, DSA, DISP etc), tendering, bidding and sub-tendering, capability statements and gateway profiles and cyber maintenance and threat mitigation.
Bringing engaged industry on to our campuses has opened the door for several companies that have not previously engaged with the University.
