Next gen engineering leaders shaping a better world
The Professor Alan Roberts Shaping Futures Scholarship in Engineering continues to inspire and support the next generation of engineering leaders at the University of Newcastle thanks to a generous community of donors, led by alumnus and entrepreneur Mr Heng Thong Choo.
Mr Choo had a vision to honour alumnus, Emeritus Professor Alan Roberts AM, a pioneering leader in engineering education. He brought together a group of graduates who share Emeritus Professor Robert's passion for supporting the next generation of engineers to succeed.
More than 13 years on, the scholarship has fostered a vibrant community of scholars and donors; and a fund that supports four students annually, providing vital financial relief and opportunities to connect and learn from mentors in their field.
This scholarship is designed to support students who show true motivation, commitment and determination to overcome challenges and succeed. These qualities reflect the dedication Alan Roberts demonstrated throughout his remarkable career. I’m pleased so many peoplehave joined me in honouring his leadership and nurturing a new generation of engineers in this way."
